ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ISO 14001

Akakus Oil Operations has adopted Environmental Protection as one of its main principles within its Policy, based on a self-evaluation and continual improvement process.

For this reason, we have implemented an Environmental Management System (EMS) based on the ISO 14001 international standard, through which we focus our activities towards the minimization of the impacts to the surroundings areas.

Akakus Oil Operations is a pioneer in Environmental Care in Libya and, as a result of that, AOO is the first oil company ISO 14001 certified in Libya. The certification achieved in 2004 is an external validation of international character that provides added endorsement.

What does our EMS consist of?

Our EMS is the framework by which AOO manages its environmental performance and achieves its environmental objectives. It is based on the “Plan, Do, Check, Act” model to ensure that environmental impacts are systematically identified, controlled and monitored.
